Her performance was so great that she joined prime-time TV as the main weather forecaster for KCAL 9 News before joining KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. She then became the weather anchor of CBS 2, from which she decided to resign in 2018 to concentrate on raising her first child.

She became so famous during this period that she appeared in several movies and television series including Battleship, The Midnight Show, NCIS, and All About Steve.
In each of these shows and films, Johnson acted as a weather forecaster.
